Are you as excited about our new glazes as we are? Want to see what you can create with them? Come read all about how Cait from Little City Farmhouse transformed this medallion into gorgeous wall art with Rustic Charm, Clear Glaze mixed with Bliss, and gold wax!
Hi! I’m Cait from Little City Farmhouse and I am excited to share with you a project using Country Chic’s brand new Glaze!
I started with a wooden wall decor medallion that is fairly large (about two feet wide), that was dark wood.
The look I wanted to end up with is the patina that develops on aged copper. So to start I gave it one light coat of Rustic Charm.
When that was thoroughly dry (it dried for about a day and a half before I worked on it again), I mixed the glaze. I used the Clear Glaze, mixing it according to the directions, with Bliss - a little goes a long way so only mix up what you think you’ll need (I mixed up too much and so I poured the remainder into a mason jar and sealed it tightly). I painted the mixed glaze on in smaller areas.
Once I had painted it on in an area, I used a lightly damp rag to wipe it off. The effect is fantastic! The glaze stays in the grooves and crevices and gives the piece an incredible look!
I let the glaze dry overnight, and then lightly waxed it in Gold Wax just hitting the edges and high points and then pressed the gold wax in other areas to give it a look of being built up over time.
The Clear Glaze has endless possibilities to achieve any look! The layered look of the glaze over paint is beautiful! The medallion turned out just as I had hoped!
Hello! I’m Cait! I am a wife and a mom of two little ones, and a proud auntie of a growing little flock! I first started by refinishing several pieces in my own home, and fell in love with it. Slowly it turned into a business and something I could do from home. I love the thrill of finding old furniture, and I adore the process of refinishing it into something new and fresh. Refinishing furniture is the heart of my business. I believe your home should reflect who you are, and I love helping people get the look they want in their homes by refinishing their furniture for them.
