Looking for a quick way to give your dining room a new look? Why not just update what you already have? Cait from Little City Farmhouse refinished her dining room chairs in Cobblestone to freshen up her whole room!
Hi there! I’m Cait from Little City Farmhouse and I wanted to pop in today to share with you a great way to bring new life to a piece of furniture already in your home!
I refinished these dining room chairs as a custom project. The chairs were part of an old set, but were now going to be paired with a reproduction farmhouse table, so they needed a new old look! The chairs were solid lacquered pine.
Country Chic’s paint has excellent bond to surfaces, and because these chairs were older and the finish was fairly worn, I didn’t do any prep work other than wiping them down.
Each chair was painted in two coats of Cobblestone to match a buffet I had previously refinished that was going to be in the same room.
After they were dry I distressed the edges using a fine sandpaper (about 150 grit). I then sanded them with super fine sandpaper (220 grit) to give the chairs an ultra smooth finish.
To seal them, I used Antique Wax, applying it on with a lint free cloth and then buffing it off so the wax settled into the areas of wear and protected the entire chair.
Painting the chairs gave them an entirely new look, and refreshed the dining room of their new home!
Hello! I’m Cait! I am a wife and a mom of two little ones, and a proud auntie of a growing little flock! I first started by refinishing several pieces in my own home, and fell in love with it. Slowly it turned into a business and something I could do from home. I love the thrill of finding old furniture, and I adore the process of refinishing it into something new and fresh. Refinishing furniture is the heart of my business. I believe your home should reflect who you are, and I love helping people get the look they want in their homes by refinishing their furniture for them.
