Hey, Hey! It's Kadie from seven-alive.com, I'm back to share another paint project. :) This project is a little different and took me longer than I thought it would. I tried something I have never tried before.....I re-finished and painted my kitchen table, and I LOVE it.
I love the farmhouse look and have wanted a farmhouse style table for years, however trying to find a table for 7 is tricky and expensive.
With the help of my dad I built the benches. I used 1 part Simplicity Country Chic Paint mixed with 2 parts water to white wash the tops and sides of the benches. I painted the white wash on then wiped it off with a rag. I put two coats of this on to get the coverage I wanted. You could put on more or less depending on how much of the wood grain you would like to see. Then used Adorned to pant the legs, edges, and underside of the benches for a pop of color.
After the benches were finished they just didn't go with our old table, so it was time to refinish the top and paint the bottom.
I sanded down the entire top and then took the edge off the table top. Then stained the entire top.
While the top dried I painted the legs of the table with Country Chic Paint Simplicity. I first lightly sanded the legs to make sure the paint would adhere well.
After two coats of paint I used Country Chic Paint Antiquing Wax to bring out the detailing in the table legs. Here is a short video that shows how I use the antiquing wax. This video is of a chair, but the technique is the same.
After three coats of quick drying polyurethane on the table top, I put it all back together.
