Ann from Farmhouse Blues Interiors mixed Elegance and Bliss to refinish this sweet children's chair. Now it's perfect for any little boy or girl!
Hello everyone! It's Ann once again from Farmhouse Blues Interiors here to share a child's chair makeover in Country Chic paint.
I found this sweet rush seat chair at a local second hand store. Having children myself, I knew how handy a chair like this could be for kids that no longer need a high chair but still need a boost to properly reach the table. But the dated finish definitely needed an update! Being nontoxic, Country Chic paint was the perfect option to give new life to the chair.
During my first Country Chic makeover, I had found that a 50/50 mix of Elegance and Bliss results in a beautiful turquoise. I decided this would be a great shade appropriate for either a little boy or girl.
I painted two coats of the turquoise mixture and once dry, distressed the edges and details with fine grit sandpaper. I finished the chair with a coat of Country Chic's natural wax.
Here you can see the details of the chair a bit better and the great condition of the rush seat.
It sat here in my retail space for just a short time before being sold. I will definitely be on the lookout for chairs like this in the future!
I’m Ann and along with my husband and two lively boys, live just north of Boston in a picturesque small town. And though I named my business Farmhouse Blues three years ago, it was just last year that we moved into a sweet little blue house overlooking a farm. It was meant to be! After my career as an airline pilot was suddenly halted by the events on 9/11, I dabbled in a few other areas but seem to have found my niche in furniture. From well-made but tired older pieces, I strive to create home furnishings that are fresh, inspired, and unique. Just recently I opened up my own space in a beautifully renovated barn and am eager to see where this new adventure takes me. Thanks for reading and please feel free to check out more of my work at Farmhouse Blues.
