Come see another beautiful project by Cait from Little City Farmhouse! She used Cobblestone topped with antiquing wax to create this gorgeous antique look.
Hi there! It’s Cait from Little City Farmhouse and I am back with possibly one of my favourite pieces I have ever refinished!
I love classic pieces like this with pretty legs and old castors. It was weathered and old and in need of some updating. Because of the age of this piece, I wanted to keep the finish authentic. I painted it in two coats of Cobblestone. I have grown to really love this colour! It is the perfect warm tone of grey.
After I finished painting it I sanded it twice with varying grits of sandpaper to really expose the grain of the wood while keeping the distressing to only parts that would naturally wear over time.
The final step was coat the entire piece in Antique Wax. I applied the wax with a lint free cloth, and really rubbed it in so it sat in the grain and in places where age would naturally build up. Right after rubbing the wax into an area, I buffed it off to remove the top layer of the wax. This is the method I usually use when applying Antique Wax so that it doesn’t have an overly heavy appearance, but instead is a light layer of wax with the perfect hint of age.
With the addition of glass knobs, this piece is one of a kind and has a beautiful warm grey authentic finish. I wish I could keep this piece in my own house!
Hello! I’m Cait! I am a wife and a mom of two little ones, and a proud auntie of a growing little flock! I first started by refinishing several pieces in my own home, and fell in love with it. Slowly it turned into a business and something I could do from home. I love the thrill of finding old furniture, and I adore the process of refinishing it into something new and fresh. Refinishing furniture is the heart of my business. I believe your home should reflect who you are, and I love helping people get the look they want in their homes by refinishing their furniture for them.
