An Elegant Buffet Makeover {guest post}

Kristy from Robb Restyle is sharing her first CCP piece with us today. She used Elegance and gold wax to revamp this gorgeous buffet!

Hi everyone! I’m Kristy from Robb Restyle and I am super excited to share my first-ever Country Chic Paint furniture makeover.

My husband and I love finding thrifty pieces of furniture to paint. That often means we have to purchase broken or mismatched pieces. And, we’re cool with that.

I immediately fell in love with the curves of this 40s style mahogany buffet. I already had an old sideboard that I painted in my dining room, but this version was narrower and offered more storage. Space is a premium for us since my dining room also functions as a craft area and home office. Oh, and did I mention this little number was only $5… sold!

Sure, it needed a little repair. The door had been ripped off the hinges and some trim work was damaged. But that’s what I love about using paint to revive old pieces. You can fix and hide those little imperfections.

I selected Country Chic’s Elegance for this makeover. I can’t decide if this color is blue with a hint of gray or gray with a hint of blue – but I LOVE IT. It truly fit this dining room buffet. And, I love that it’s called Elegance because I feel like it made this furniture makeover very chic indeed.

After it was painted, I decided not to distress this piece, which is pretty unusual for me. So, to add a little more detail I decided to give the gold wax a try instead. I’m so glad I did. It added just the right amount of aged character on the edges with a slight shimmer… and the effect is amazing in the daylight!

This drawer was in hiding while I was finishing up the room so I snapped this pic so you could see the difference the gold wax makes.

We live in a 100-year old home with original, unpainted woodwork so it can be a challenge to pick a color that compliments our trim. This color fit the bill. And, since we were updating our wall color at the same time, it helped inspire the rest of the room decor.
