Maria from Countryside Heirlooms refinished this beautifully detailed cabinet with Cheesecake and Liquorice!
Nothing short of Amazing!
Wowza! This piece was in dire straights when we stumbled upon her! In fact she was saved from an auction house plummet! Don’t know how many of you are auction goers .. Auction hunters but we do have a local Auction House that burns the NO SELL furniture pieces. So with that being said … Can u imagine the travesty in this losing not only this piece but losing its remarkable history?
The piece is solid wood, from shelving to moulding & trim work. We did some minor repairs to the trim work where we had to invent & add a section or two of missing pieces. Thanks to our woodworkers putty … We got great results!
We believe this piece was probably a top to an old early 1900’s hutch & perhaps the legs that may have not been able to support this heavy wood top piece were cut off or sawn off. Either way .. We’re happier than 2 kids in a candy store to have been able to restore & salvage this beaut!
While this remnant cabinet piece may have been used for several pieces like a side media cabinet or kitchen pantry, etc … We added a beautiful black creamy toile fabric back and side panels painted the inside in Country Chic’s Cheesecake & clear wax then topped it in Country Chic’s Black Liqourice paint.
Like I said...Ammmmmazing!

I’m Maria Roberts — mother, wife, caregiver and a foster parent. I began restoring furniture in 2013 and I love painting & restoring furniture! Countryside Heirlooms was established by my wonderful husband who wanted to provide an outlet for my passion for painting. Tom founded Countryside Heirlooms to help motivate me to keep moving while I recuperated after major back surgery. Painting furniture has & continues to be my escape from the many responsibilities going on in my life as I’m sure many of you can relate. In this journey, I’ll share our experiences in selecting great furniture pieces and the not so great pieces, restorations & transformations. As a bonus…if you love before and after pictures of restored furniture than this blog is for you!
