Heidi from Lily Field Furniture took on her largest project to date, this gorgeous dresser. She made it sleek and sophisticated with Liquorice!
Hi guys - It's Heidi from Lily Field Furniture with a new before and after for you! My beautiful sister scouted out this buffet for me and when she sent me a picture I knew it was a gem! This thing is honestly the biggest piece I think I have ever worked on! She mentioned it was heavy but I kind of laughed and thought she probably just wasn't used to moving furniture around like I am. WRONG!!! Oh my word this thing is massive! It's 72 inches long and weighs about 1000 pounds! Thomasville doesn't mess around with quality, I should have known!
I definitely love painting with colors and love when my clients are daring and take chances. However, there is just nothing like classic black. It's so sophisticated, classic and beautifully timeless! This piece was perfect for black and Country Chic Paint in Liquorice is my all time favorite. Normally you wouldn't have to do much prep with Country Chic but I did a little extra just because this piece was a little rough around the edges. I sanded it down with some 120 grit sandpaper and used some filler on a few places. After that I primes to make sure the wood filler didn't show through.
After painting it with one coat of Liquorice I distressed it lightly and sealed it with Tough Coat. Changing out the hardware brings it a little more up to date.
I mentioned that this was my longest piece of furniture to date! After painting this and another medium sized project at the same time I still have about 1/4 a can left of paint. This stuff goes a LONG way!! Hoping this inspires you to try out this awesome black - you can't go wrong!
Hello! My name is Heidi and I am the face behind Lily Field Furniture. I spend my days being a wife and mom and my late nights in the garage painting away! I absolutely love the job that I have and have so much fun with the process of thrifting and then refinishing furniture in a creative way. It's so rewarding to see the amazing transformation that just a little paint can make!
