Check out this post to see how Mary from Orphans With MakeUp did a simple makeover on these plate chargers to make them the perfect addition to her pretty spring table! Hello Friends,

I love setting a beautiful table and adding plate chargers is a great way to make your table scape look pretty.

Pretty plate chargers are very hard to find, and when you do find pretty ones, they can be quite expensive. I set up this pretty Spring-like plate setting using metallic serving trays which I upcycled into plate chargers.

Whenever I am thrifting, I always pick up some metal serving trays and look for different patterns. They are usually priced from $1.00 to $3.00 each and very easily found.

So here is the original 6 trays that I started with.

I painted them in “Elegance” and sanded them lightly with just a bit of distressing. I then sealed them with Natural Wax.

To emphasize the raised details, I applied Metallic Cream in "Silver Bullet” concentrating mainly around the edges. It has a pearl-like look to it and it is very subtle. You can apply the Metallic Cream with a brush. I actually used my fingers as I found it was easier to spot apply it on the raised details. Everything can then be washed-up easily with water.

The Metallic Cream dries pretty fast so if you apply it a little too thick, wipe off the excess immediately. I found it was best to work in sections.

I love the look of the different patterns mixed together and emphasized with the Metallic Cream.

Hi Lisa,

The wax can be wiped clean, but it will not stand up as well to washing as our Tough Coat will. For maximum durability, you might prefer using the Tough Coat.

You mentioned you finished with wax so I was wondering how you wash the chargers, if food spills on them? My understanding it you can’t wash something that has been waxed..is that correct? AND They are gorgeous!
