This beautiful transformation was done by Lindsay from My Creative Days in Liquorice with decoupaged detailing on the drawers!
Hello, Country Chic Paint readers! It is Lindsay from My Creative Days back to share with you a curbside makeover I recently completed. If you don't know by now, I LOVE CURBSIDE PICK-UPS! I get so excited when I see a fabulous piece sitting on the curb for FREE! It doesn't happen all the time where we live so when I find something, it is so exciting. If you follow me on Instagram, you saw the curbside treasures I scored a few weeks ago. This white dresser was one of those pieces.
This dresser still had the original casters on it. That makes me a happy, happy girl! It was dirty, but I saw the potential in it. The first thing I did was paint it in Liqourice (in the picture below, the paint is still drying).
I thought this dresser would be the perfect piece to try something different on. I didn't just want to paint it a different color and call it a day. So, I decided to decoupage the drawers with the cute wrapping paper I bought from the $1 bin at Target. The colors and the chevron pattern were perfect for this dresser.
To decoupage, I mixed white glue with a little water. I applied the glue mixture to the drawers and then laid the paper on top. I applied more of the glue mixture on top of the paper and used an old shopping card to smooth out all of the bumps and air pockets.
I added many coats of the glue mixture to the top of the paper. I waited for each layer of glue to dry before I added another layer. After the last layer was dry, I used a razor to cut off the excess paper.
I spray painted all of the knobs black. It looks like an entirely different dresser!
It is so much fun trying new techniques on pieces. This dresser is beautiful and has come a long way from the side of the curb.
