Lindsay from My Creative Days turned this simple dresser into a fun, bold statement piece with Moon Dew and some metallic accent arrows!
Hello! It is Lindsay from My Creative Days back to share a dresser makeover that began when we were headed to explore the caves at Maquoketa Caves State Park in Iowa. If you follow me on Instagram, you saw the picture I posted while in the caves. Such an amazing local treasure! Another amazing part of that day was coming across a yard sale along the highway. After stopping at the sale, our van was packed full of treasures and projects. Yard sales that are off the beaten path are some of my favorites because you never know what you will come across.
This pink dresser was one of the projects I picked up that day.
I am still working with the Limited Edition colors from Country Chic Paint and thought "Moon Dew" would be pretty on this dresser.
I didn't want to just paint this dresser a new color and call it a day. I wanted to do something fun to it and as soon as I put the color on the dresser, I knew what that was. The "Moon Dew" color is a lot "richer" than what is portrayed in the photo above. I thought a brass color would be beautiful with it. That thought inspired the knobs I picked for this dresser and also the fun, brass arrows on the front of the drawers.
To make the arrows, I used a ruler to make a straight line between the knob holes and then drew arrow shapes with a pencil. I did not want the arrows to look perfect at all.
I used Liquid Brass Leaf to paint the arrows.
The brass color is "spot on" with the "Moon Dew" (it was like they were meant to be together) and the arrows add so much fun and whimsy to the dresser.
The knobs are "preppy" and play off the "Moon Dew" color so well. They also highlight the arrows nicely with their brass exterior.
I am so happy with the way this brass arrow dresser turned out. It is always fun to step out the box and try something new with a piece. It can get creatively boring to play it safe all the time. I like to push the envelope sometimes and see where it takes me. This dresser now has so much character and is something people will remember.
