Christina from Phoenix Restoration had her own custom colour created for this bright, beautiful dresser!
Our family is growing like crazy! Back in May, my brother, Ryan and his wife, Chloe announced that they are expecting for the second time. About six weeks later, we found out they are expecting twins (neither side has any family history of twins)! Just this week, we learned that they have two girls on the way; Iris and Isla will be here in early January.

In addition to my brother’s growing family, my sister, Stephanie and her husband, Ben, are expecting in early March and my husband and I are expecting in late March. In less than three years, my parents will welcome seven grandbabies. So fun!
I started working on a dresser for the twins’ nursery several weeks ago. Someone who found my blog via a link party that I shared another project on gave the dresser I used for this project to me for free. Around the time that I was getting started, I received an email from Rosanne at Country Chic Paint offering to send me some complimentary paint samples to try out on my furniture projects. I was really excited to learn that their products are VOC free and completely non-toxic – perfect for a nursery and for painting while pregnant! Rosanne mentioned that they could mix any color so I asked her for a custom match of Benjamin Moore’s “Chartreuse” – the color that Chloe requested for the dresser.
Country Chic’s package of goodies arrived while I was working on another project. I posted this photo to Instagram back in July (@christina_phoenixrestoration).
I got to work on the project right away. I hand-sanded and primed all surfaces of the dresser that I planned to paint. After getting through the first few steps, I had to put the project on hold for several weeks. I was in my best friend’s wedding at the end of July and right around that time, first trimester fatigue, insomnia and morning sickness set in. I was miserable and completely worthless for about a month as far as painting projects are concerned. Finally, in the last couple of days, I applied the final coats of paint, sealed with CC’s topcoat and lugged the dresser inside for staging.
Chloe loves this bold statement piece and plans to decorate around it with neutrals and a touch of pink for their baby girls. We can’t wait to meet you, Iris and Isla!
