Pink & Gold Hope Chest {guest post}

March 19, 2014

Carissa from Carissa Miss is another one of our 14 fabulous 2014 Blog Squad bloggers and she's sharing her first project on our blog today: a very pretty pink & gold hope chest!

Hi Country Chic readers! I'm Carissa from Carissa Miss. I am so excited to start posting here regularly. I love all things DIY, especially trying to make my own versions of pricey designer items. Like my DIY farmhouse table, this Ikea RAST hack, or these vertical stripe curtains. I love working with e-design clients to transform a space from blah to wow! Here's a gallery of some of the inspiration boards I've created.

Chalk-based paint has been one of my favorite discoveries this past year and working with it is such a dream. If you haven't used it before, I'm here to convince you to! If you have, I hope I can provide some inspiration to get you making over all your furniture with Country Chic paint!

You don't have to always go shabby chic or farmhouse with this paint either. Lots of my projects will include pieces that aren't distressed, like this first project. A pink and gold hope chest I painted for a client whose little girl is getting a bedroom makeover! I really love how well pink and gold go together.

The chest was pretty adorable to start; the lines and the shape, but it was still stuck in the 80's with the acrylic painted hearts and vine. I quickly brought it up to date with Vintage Cupcake and the Gold wax. The paint is sooo easy to work with. No primer. No sanding. Dry in mere minutes after applying. I LOVE IT. To add some glitz, I spray painted the edges and feet with Rust-Oleum Gold Spray Paint. Then, for a little bit more shimmer, I used the gold wax. I usually just apply the wax with a cloth and rub it until I like the color and shine. I love the way wax complements the chalky texture of the paint. It's like the conditioner to shampoo: Smooth and Shiny.

Since this chest was going in a pink and gold bedroom, I decided that I just had to share some adorable pink and gold accents that you could add to the room with this hope chest to complete the perfect, pink and gold, little girl's room. peony wallpaper/white and gold lamp/pink pouf/heart pillow.
